Amsterdam canals

The speedboat chase is based on the one from the 1970 film 'Puppet on a chain'. The scene starts at the Bibo shipyard on the Koenenkade near the Nieuwe Meer and was partly shot on the Oudegracht in Utrecht. This is because there are no wharf cellars with low-lying terraces along the Amsterdam canals. The Utrecht scene was shot in slow motion to enhance the effect. The extras on the terraces therefore had to jump aside and into the water in slow motion. Ultimately, the 10-second film that was shot on the Oudegracht required two shooting days. To record the scene in which a speedboat flies over a bridge over an Amsterdam canal, the speedboat was 'shot' with a nitrogen cannon.
