Cafe Lowietje

Perhaps the most popular location in Baantjer is Café Lowietje. It was here that the detective usually had an inspiration that accelerated the murder investigation. The café still exists and can be visited. The address: Derde Goudsbloemdwarsstraat 2.

In Baantjer, Café Lowietje was located in De Wallen, but in reality the pub is in the Jordaan. This location was chosen for practical reasons. A street from the red-light district was recreated for the television recordings. A casting agency supplied the ladies of easy virtue.

The role of bartender was successively played by Jaap Stobbe, Herman Kortekaas, Ab Abspoel, John Leddy and Piet Kamerman.

In De Cock and the invisible murderer, an attack was made on the café.

The café was also featured in Flikken Maastricht - season 9, episode 1. The pub was also the setting for a video clip by André Hazes junior.
