Billy Elliot

Jamie Bell plays Billy Elliot in the 2000 British drama film. The film is set in Durham during the British miners' strike. When Billy is playing sports, he happens to meet Mrs. Wilkinson. Billy turns out to be a great talent, but his father doesn't see a career for Billy in ballet.

The film was made on a minimal budget but became a classic. The shooting took place in Easington and more than 400 extras were seen in this film.

In 2005 a musical was made of this film.
